Blue Elephant Governor’s Mansion Phuket Restaurant & Cooking School
Throughout our time in Thailand, we had not had the opportunity to indulge in a fine dining experience. This would surely change on our last day in Phuket. One of the members from the tour group that we were on suggested that we dine at the Blue Elephant Restaurant, as it had really good reviews on TripAdvisor. Those that still remained from the tour group jumped on this opportunity and so we hired a taxi van to take us on the roughly 20 minute car ride from Patong to Phuket town.
Upon arriving at this restaurant, we were amazed at how beautiful the outside of the restaurant was. The Blue Elephant Restaurant is located at the site of the Phra Pitak Chinpracha Mansion, a historic 105 year old landmark. The mansion was built in an elegant Sino-Portuguese style. The architecture follows the principles of feng shui, creating a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere inside the restaurant, with scenic surroundings outside. Thus, upon entering we were already captivated by the look and feel of this restaurant. Ambiance only takes you so far in the restaurant world. The true litmus test is whether the chef, Khun Noroor Somany Steppe, can take one’s palette on a journey and so, we were very eager to find out.
