Railay Beach was highly recommended to us by a few of our friends and for this reason, it made it on our bucket list of things to do upon arriving in Ao Nang, Krabi. In order to get to Railay Beach, we made our way to the longboat taxi area located at Ao Nang Beach. For a mere 150 Thai Bhat ($5 USD) per person, we hopped on a longboat taxi for a roughly 15 minute panoramic trip to Railay Beach.
Railay beach is secluded from the rest of Ao Nang because it is nestled in between limestone cliffs making it a very difficult trek to get to overland. Once the longboat arrives and squeezes its way past the other longboats, the beauty of the beach starts to set in.
If there was ever a beach that had it all, Railay Beach is it. Railay Beach offers beautiful white sand that feels like silk on the bottom of your feet, crystal clear turquoise water, and a panorama like no other. The beach is long and wide and offers one the opportunity to find a quiet and relaxing area on the sand. The beach is surrounded by tall limestone cliffs that add to its allure and beauty. These limestone cliffs are also very popular with rock climbers.
We chose a spot to lay our towels down and settled in to take in the sun. In mid-March, the sun was tolerable, but you will find that after roughly 30 minutes, you will want to take a dip in the water in order to cool off.
There is a very small area that offers one the chance to buy some refreshments, cocktails, fruits, food, souvenirs, etc. There was a nice atmosphere that surrounded this part of the beach with everyone enjoying their time.
We wish we could have stayed on this beach forever and if you are ever in this part of Thailand, we highly recommend that you to visit this beach!
